The Turkish Journal of Ophthalmology is the only scientific periodical publication of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association and has been published since January 1929. The Journal was first published in Turkish and French in an effort to bring Turkish ophthalmological research to the international scientific audience. Despite temporary interruptions in publication over the intervening decades due to various challenges, the Turkish Journal of Ophthalmology has been published continually from 1971 to the present. The Journal currently publishes articles in Turkish and English after an independent, unbiased double-blind peer review process. Issues are published electronically six times a year, with occasional special issues. The aim of the Turkish Journal of Ophthalmology is to publish original research articles of the highest scientific and clinical value at an international level. It also features review articles, case reports, editorial commentary, letters to the editor, educational contributions, and congress/meeting announcements. The target audience of the Turkish Journal of Ophthalmology includes physicians working in the various areas of ophthalmology and all other health professionals interested in these issues. The Journal’s publication policies are based on the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) (2013, archived at http://www.icmje.org/).
